Allerbest Development, Inc is a full-service developer/general contractor based in Thomasville Georgia specializing in land development and turn-key construction for commercial, industrial and residential single and multifamily development projects. Allerbest emphasizes its ability to take an existing or unimproved site and convert it into a complete business or multifamily unit quickly and efficiently by managing and self-performing as needed the development and construction process from start to finish.
We are able to achieve economies of scale typically unavailable to the end user. This competitive edge affords clients a custom, cost-effective product. Current projects include a 67-acre mixed use development, office parks, hospital renovations and townhome communities in Thomasville, Georgia and Mexico Beach, Florida. Commercial construction activity is focused primarily on negotiated bid, build-to-suit construction for out parcel owners and is lessee or owner occupied. Residential development is primarily focused on multifamily rental or owner-occupied homes.

Melissa Obas
Melissa Obas, CEO of Allerbest Development, comes from a diverse background. She was born in Haiti and her family moved to the US in her early teenage years. She holds a science degree and a medical laboratory technology degree from Valencia College. She started her career working primarily in the blood bank industry and multi-specialty clinics. She’s been able to take on different roles and responsibilities throughout her medical career. Melissa’s experience in hurricane disaster clean-up and storm repairs began her journey into the construction industry. She counts as one of her greatest accomplishments being the new CEO of Allerbest. She is focused on business development, marketing and building relationships with government and private sector contacts. Melissa works alongside the management team to monitor progress, efficiency and profitability. Furthermore, she is dedicated and inspired to bring success to the Allerbest Development clients and projects.
Edward Karl Weckwert II (Karl)
Karl established his construction business in 1986 as a third-generation general contractor. He currently serves as COO of Allerbest Development. Karl has 39 years of experience in civil and architectural design and construction of commercial, industrial and residential developments and communities. Residential projects include 11 communities with 22 phases and 700+ units. Commercial projects include the redevelopment of The Woodlands of Thomas County. This project scope includes elimination of the boiler/chiller systems and installation of over 600 tons of HVAC package systems with vertical and horizontal flows.
He is a 2-term National Home Builders Association of Thomas County (HBA) president. Karl served as chairman of the HBA’s Home and Garden show for four years. He has also served as the chairman of the HBA Family Fun Day and Golf Tournament. While president, Karl represented the HBA on the Team 2000 committee which raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to entice industry and development to the local area. From 1987 to 1995 he was an active Junior Civitan (JC) and chaired numerous committees. In 1993 he was chairman of the Miss Thomasville Pageant and was presented with the New Jaycee of the Year award in 1988.
Karl is devoted to and enjoys his children and family, being outdoors and elevation music.


Edward Karl Weckwert III (Trey)
Trey is a Project Manager and site Superintendent for Allerbest Development. Trey is in the 4th generation of builders and site contractors in the Weckwert/McCaskill families. Trey excels in horizontal site plan analysis and construction. At the age of 29, he already has 15 years of experience in residential and commercial construction. Commercial projects include over 70 Wendy’s restaurants in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Alabama. Trey also has a wide experience of equipment operation and the ability to operate a new piece of equipment quickly and efficiently.
Erik Weckwert
Erik Dean Weckwert is a Project Manager and site Superintendent for Allerbest Development. He is a 4th generation builder and site contractor in the Weckwert/McCaskill families. Erik is detail oriented and excels in project management and construction. At the age of 27, he already has 15 years of experience in residential and commercial construction. Commercial projects include over 50 Wendy’s restaurants in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Alabama. Erik it’s currently Project Manager at The Woodlands of Thomas County installing 600-tons plus of HVAC units.


Ray Zapata
Ray started his career working as an engineer in the oil fields of Texas before moving to Thomasville, Georgia. He currently serves as Accounts Payable/Payroll Manager for Allerbest Development. Ray has 45 years of experience. He is detail oriented and enjoys interacting with subcontractors and customers alike. He and Michele both enjoy volunteering their time and energy for first response disaster relief in Georgia and Florida helping to stabilize the homes of families in need with tree removal and tarping roofs.
Michele Zapata
Michele started her career working for a home builder in south Florida before moving to Thomasville, Georgia. She currently serves as CFO for Allerbest Development. Michele’s 37 years of experience span various aspects of construction administration and finance including strategic planning, budgeting, risk management, financial reporting, and compliance. She and her husband both enjoy volunteering their time and energy for first response disaster relief in Georgia and Florida helping to stabilize the homes of families in need with tree removal and tarping roofs.


Richard Powell
Richard Powell is the professional engineer for Allerbest Development Inc. He has 27 years of experience in all phases of project management from conceptual design through final construction inspection. He has been involved with various types of projects including heavy plant construction – commercial development – residential subdivisions – and residential construction. From site selection through design and construction to continuing maintenance, his experience is varied and comprehensive. His primary responsibilities include: real estate site selection – site layout design, building design – construction management – facility construction, rehabilitation and/or renovation – environmental compliance – code compliance – maintenance management – and insurance administration.
Richard graduated with honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1975, with a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama; a certified pollutant storage specialty contractor in Florida; a licensed general contractor in Thomasville, Georgia; and a certified building contractor in Florida. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Richard Powell is also involved in the local community as a member of the Grady County Planning Commission.
